  • DaVinci Resolve Lite is not for commercial use???

Installed the program Da Vinci Resolve Lite and the contract I read something like that.

    1. Subject is payment of applicable license fees, Blackmagic Design Pty. Ltd. ("Blackmagic Design") hereby grants to you a non-exclusive license to use this software product (the "Software") and Accompanying documentation on the terms below. The Software May be used on a single system only, and May be copied for archival purposes, provided any copy must Contain all of the original Software's proprietary notices.

What kind of license fees? I do not understand. I'm not sure whether this program totally free for commercial use?

Do DNxHD codec is free? In Da Vinci Resolve Lite?

Not that I am lawyer but it is my understanding that Resolve Lite was designed for people to use for learning, personal projects, small projects. I have never seen Lite listed as non-commercial. Usually, software companies will go out of there way to tell you it's non commercial. What you posted does not indicate either or. 'Applicable' license fees implies that there may be cases where fee does not apply. I would not worry about it. Regarding DNxHD, I don't use personally so I do not know.

That being said, if you are using it to make money you want the the tools that are on the licensed version.

I did not find a 'no commercial use' clause in the "Lite" agreement. Some software vendors have made such stipulations in say an 'educational' version of their standard product.

If you use a codec or process tool, plugin, the license to use such may be covered by a different license, or if a 3rd party item, covered by licensing by that company.

You can use Resolve Lite for commercial use... we don't restrict its use.
DNxHD (HR) codec supplied in the full or lite version has license feed paid by BMD.
