In the case of the 7D and other DSLRs the existing OLPF (for photos) is designed for a higher resolution, so it doesn't need to be removed. They explain it pretty good on their site. In the case of the BMCC, I suspect it would work the same, nothing is removed from the BMCC (there's no OLPF to remove anyway). The downside is it can throw off autofocus because the extra glass changes the back focal distance slightly.

And by the way, It works awesome, but you lose a bit of sharpness. You can add it back in post a bit.

Pros, correct me if I'm wrong on any of this.
    Thanks
Look at Kholi's posts, he talked to them directly. You'll need to remove glass in front of the sensor and replace it with the VAF unlike other camera's.

ahh thanks. At least it sounds like you don't need to send the cam in.

Just to be sure, does it have any effect on Exposure? i.e., does it take out any stoppage?

        Cheers,

        Neil.

Direct from Mosaic Engineering's website: "The light loss is minimal - less than 1/8 F-stop, and normally not perceptible."

This is good news... I filmed a feature this summer, kept a careful eye out for moire but still missed some spots.

Did the mosaic 5d Olpf affect the images sharpness?

This would be huge to me. Moire seems to pop up in every shot I've taken to some degree, ranging from mildly annoying to image-breaking. The chroma noise-reduction trick helps, but doesn't get rid of the luma aliasing.

I would be interested as well. In an EF, MFT and pocket version. How far is the development now? Hope to see more info soon. Thanks a lot for taking initiative, as well as other people expressing interest. Maybe next gen BMCs will have it built in, nab 2014?

Looks promising - but I need to see a price first...

Downloading the original video file to see just how soft it goes.
