  • 4.0 Public Beta 2

    Hi all,

We are happy to announce that we have just released the second public beta for Blackmagic Camera 4.0 on the website.

    https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/sup...sional-cameras

After receiving a lot of great feedback on the first public beta, this update adds Image Stabilization for EF lenses, lens compatibility improvements, playback improvements and bug fixes for URSA Mini.

    Improvements since 4.0 Beta include:

Added support for Image Stabilisation (IS) on EF lenses.
    Improved focus assist thresholds.
Improved support for Sigma EF lenses.
Improved support for Fujinon Cabrio PL lens control via broadcast 12-pin connector.
    Improved playback support.
    Improved boot up time.
Fixed bug where camera index in filenames was resetting after power cycle.
Fixed bug in HD window where power cycle causes misalignment on URSA Mini 4K.
Fixed bug where URSA Mini 4K allows ISO setting of 1600 which is not supported.

As with the previous beta this is for trial and testing purposes, customers working on commercial productions are encouraged to continue using the current shipping camera software.

For any issues or bug reports on 4.0 Beta 2 customers should email 4.0beta@blackmagicdesign.com

Thanks, CaptainHook; thank you and the BMD team for all your work on the 4.0 updates. I'll take a look today! Hoping the ProRes option to use the full sensor readout when recording in a windowed frame such as HD is back! I like to see that 4.6K field of view while using the economical 2K/HD options.

What do you mean sorry Rick? You could shoot ProRes HD full sensor in Beta 1.. just make sure "window sensor" is not on.

Wow, thanks! Whenever I clicked on a smaller resolution recording option, the Window selection was automatically selected for me using 4.0beta. I'll have to turn that off now I know it's still possible. Apologies to you that I've posted that concern elsewhere since I'm wrong! Oh well.

Just gave it a test ride - awesome.

Thanks to the Captain and the whole team, for all the hard work they are putting into this.

Happy to see that's been addressed. Looking forward to downloading the firmware this evening.

Previously reported my older Sigma 50mm was not working properly with 4.0 firmware. As I expected, has been fixed in this new beta. All my lenses now work just as they should.

Ah, a "Senior moment" Rick, no worries. I do this more than I would like.
                              Cheers
