Awesome! this is brilliant news, I'm not quite sure what's better news though, the fact that we now have MFT to choose from or that BlackMagic are the most kick ass company, listen & adapt to their customers.

Don't be so happy, and don't rush with canceling your orders because it may be available only in December.

Blackmagic Cinema Camera MFT will be available December 2012 for US$2,995 from Blackmagic Design resellers worldwide. The EF compatible lens mount model will be renamed as Blackmagic Cinema Camera EF so customers can differentiate the two models. Price for both models is the same, and customers can order each model depending on the lens mount they prefer.
definitely a bit of a kicker. But I am glad the company is doing this and am very thankful. decisions, decisions, decisions.

What is passive MFT vs standard MFT? No auto? Either way, great news!

I thought I was setting myself up for a joke when I read the subject on the thread!

Yep!!! I'm still down for the Canon mount. I am fully invested in great EF glass and want the electronic control it brings. So while I am #1 in the pre-order queue at my dealer, I have no idea where they are in the queue from the distributor. So if anyone beats me to it and wants to unload an unopened Canon mount BMC, I want it. I'm sure I'll have no problem unloading an extra one when my pre-order comes in.

AAKKK. This is tempting. I'm high up on a queue also, but I have NO Ef glass, all my glass is manual that I'll be adapting to EF, MFT is much more useful to me.

Just woke up and decided to check BMCUSER real quick and found this. I'll be selling my spot if anyone wants it. I'm first in line at Markertek. PM me. I'll get back to you when I wake up for the morning and assess everything once the dust settles.

Edit: My spot is no longer for sale.

yeah. very cool development, but it will be interesting to see how this plays out. I now a lot of people want their camera as soon as possible. And, a lot of people also have been really pushing for a 4/3 version.

Shipping in December. If enough people want to take the wait in favor of that model, it could potentially take some of the stress of this initial shipment of the original cam.
