    this lens is currently on sale6 at bh. Anyone using it on a p4k?

    I would go for the 17-50mm with the fixed f/2.8. It's a decent walk-about lens. With the P4K crop, you'll get a decent normal to mid-tele focal length. Although the Sigma 18-35mm ART is a awesome lens, this one with its optical stabilization is good for walk-about shooting.

    You mean with a speed booster?

    It could work with a ef-mft smart adapter as well. It would be a 21-62mm S35 equivalent.

    What's the difference between the speedbooster and the ef-mft smart adapter?

    The speedbooster is changing the apparent focal length, making your lens wider.
    The smart adapter is giving you lens control.

    I use a lot of lenses on the P4k but for quick moving work, the Oly 12-40 2.8 is incredibly detailed and contrasty with a great overall range.

    For a more cinematic look I love using SLR hyper primes.

    I agree the 17-50 is another great option. I have it as well. They both have OS. The two are comparable in quality. What you trade for a constant aperture in the 17-50 you get an extra 20mm and better macro ability in the 17-70. Macro lenses also have less distortion in general (which the 17-50 has in abundance).

    While I definitely have gotten my money's worth frim the 17-50 (it's lasted me 3 years and countless shoots, photo and video), I probably would have used the 17-70 more if I had gotten it instead. The zooming on the 17-50 is so rough that you can't really use it for smooth zooming anyway, maybe for eng work. It really depends on what you intend to use it for.

    The 12-40mm is an EXCELLENT lens. It blows the sigmas out of the water in image quality, but it lacks image stabilization. Could be a deal breaker for some.

    I basically need a lens that would make my life easier on events, and on a future gimble. I have a Lumix 14-140 but I want to use a booster and want the s35 look. 99% of the time I shoot between 28- 80 so constant aperture and os are very important. For narrative work, I would choose another lens, maybe a prime. The 17-50 seems to fit the bill.
