You might want to buy two camera when you buy Black Magic.

If the return policy is less than 30 days and if they give a full refund on opened non defective units it might be less time and expense of having to RMA deal with BM or exchange one.

Heaven forbid BOTH of them are defective.

We should not even be having this discussion.

As per page 56 of the manual

    "Menu Wheel
When ‘status text’ is turned on for your URSA Mini Pro’s front SDI output, you can use the menu wheel to navigate many of the head up display features usually accessed via the LCD touchscreen."

The theory is you use this easier to get at wheel to access some controls while you're looking through the EVF and can't open the screen. You're probably randomly changing settings without knowing it.

    This is just forum hysteria.

In the real world nothing is perfect - everything produced by everyone is subject to the same potential of random failure.

Multi-billion dollar, multi-year, ultimately QC'd by thousands of top experts, NASA projects fail - often.

I mean seriously, let's get some balance here. One person is justifiably bummed that he got his camera and it was DOA.

He's been taken care of, right?

That's exactly how things should go.

Well if you're now talking about a motorbike then my price is $1K...

This is just friendly chat, but do you see the analogy?

What Blackmagic offers us for their prices is not normal. I do think that with the UMP G2 they slowly started to level their pricing with some other offerings (but it's still so technically advanced, at least on paper).

Okay folks, this is not helping and it's not fair to those BMD owners who got theirs in functioning condition. All I can say is that I am loving what my UMP G2 and BMP4K is giving me and it's a good combo kit. Thanks BMD!

This is exactly why I am having my camera sent to my lens tech ppl - let them open unpack it, power it up, fit lenses to it, check focus etc of each lens on the camera and get them to keep it powered up for some hours before it all gets sent out to me. I am in the bush in a remote location. I just cant afford to have a new cam DOA - the fees to send it back would cost an absolute bomb. On the other hand, this is part of the goodness of BM, IMO. After the warranty has expired if it dies its a throw away camera - no expensive servicing. In my case given my location, cheaper to just buy another one. Seems absurd to have throw away cameras but it has its benefits.

We're actually going to be doing controlled beta testing in a few weeks.

I'm an early adopter and the only Blackmagic camera that came problem free to date is the original BMPCC. My BMPC4k, UM46k and Pocket 4k all had issues and needed RMA. And yes I do feel early adopters might be the final beta testers.
