Unless you already have the tools and materials, for an extra $160, the Visionsmith 1k ReLamps are pretty much this (But then again you need a fresnel fixture for that to work). A massive DIY version with multiple of those YUJI LEDs would make an epic LED Maxi Brute!

Color quality and output should be much better higher than visionsmith. This 500W LED will be much brighter than an 1k tungsten equivalent.

Building my own fresnel sounds, fun but I think I will stick with the DIY flexi panels for now.
While I have been waiting for a long time for some alternatives to the Visionsmith upgrades, I am sure we will see some alternatives at some point in time.

if it were me (and maybe it might ) I would consider finding an old frensel fixture on ebay and moding it.
I would want to find a unit that can focus.

If you are using LEDs, all yo need are the lenses, some cardboard or fiberboard tubes, and a box. Add reflectors, gaffers tape, and you have a spot/flood fixture.

/\ they do make a fair amount of heat, which is what the big cpu style heat synk and fan is for.
Plus you're going to want to be able to mount it on a proper stand and aim it like anything else...

@KurtF Are there any solutions to mount a bowens mount to something? There are great accessories on the used market but I do not know what to search for.

I posted this earlier in the thread, but I'm currently working on a project where I'm putting an 100w LED in the middle of this
