    I can pick up the 11-16 II about $200 cheaper. 16-20mm range isn't that valuable to me but if the image quality is better I'd go the new one.

    I don't see why it isn't possibly user upgradable. It has a micro USB port on it, which admittedly could be for firmware updates and could just be for power on passive mounts.
