  • Exporting ProRes from a ProRes, quality loss?

Need to sync up a bunch of rushes from an Alexa Mini shot in ProRes 4444, I'd like to do it in Resolve because it's great at batch syncing.

I'm wondering if Resolve will need to re-encode to ProRes 4444 with the new audio or will it simply just be a rewrap and no loss in quality.

    Any insights welcome.

In 16 you can export without any recompression if there was no change to video.
And then, we once made a test by forcing 10 generations of ProRes 4444. The 10th was visually lossless. The same thing done to H.264 resulted in footage that looked rather like an arts project…
