  • Question for those who have bought Resolve Mini Panel

I only got a usb-C cable and the mini panel and that was it. No power chord and only a card that said to download Resolve Studio (see image below. Even thought he light is reflecting on the card it does say in that area Resolve Studio and not the free version) but no dongle. How will Resolve Studio work with no License Dongle? Is that what you guys got in the bod only or did you get a Power Chord and Resolve Studio license Dongle as well?

They dont include resolve. Like when you buy the ursa mini you dont get the power cable. I guess its because of all the different plug options in other countries. You have to buy your own. Sucks they dont tell you this.

But since it is telling you to download Resolve Studio and not the free version, you need the dongle for that. And my understanding is that this works with both the free version and studio. Weird I am guessing you just got what I got too. Thing is in the space for the usb-c cable looked big enough to hold a power cable too. thought they might have just left mine out of the box when packaging.

A guy who posted to the post I made in the Resolve forum on the BMD forum said he got a power cable with his. It's weird as I swear the Multi-dock, which uses the same power cable came with one. That is why I thought it was so odd.

Clayton, although the wording may be ambiguous about downloading Resolve or Resolve Studio, I think they just mentioned both to include those people who do not have a dongle and those people who already use Resolve Studio or are purchasing the Studio version of Resolve separately or have bought a camera including the dongle. Could be wrong. The price point of $2,995 is in the area whee they include a dongle with the cameras at that price I believe.

Yeah I think it was the price point that got me thinking it would be in there

It is possible that the panel will power directly off of a suitable USB-C port. USB-C 3.1 v2 standard supports up to 100 watts, (5 amps at 20 volts).

My new Oyen raid enclosure powers directly off USB-3.1 C ports, but you have to use the power supply with USB-3 ports.

I updated to 12.5.5 free version this weekend and it does include drivers for the new panels.

Sounds like it just powers up off the USB-C port.

Power draw on modern products like this are typically pretty low. Even those displays won't draw more than 7 watts each and that would be the heaviest load of anything on the panel.

Edit: BM website says it powers off of USB port, POE network connection, or power cord. Pciture shows it connected to a Macbook Pro USB port.

Well no there is no power even with the USB-C cable plugged in to unit and computer until you plug in a computer power cable into the back of it.

The micro panel powers through USB the Mini needs external power.

Treat it like a keyboard and you'll find it consoling that it only needs a USB cable to give little power and communicate with the computer. After all, like keyboards and mouse, they are just input devices.
