  • FS: PL Sigma Cine Mod 18-35 1.8 Lens & Wooden Camera Micro 4/3 to PL Adapter

Selling my Sigma Cine Mod 18-35 1.8 Lens 300 degree version of the lens. It works really well and has a sharp image. There is a minor issue with it which is that at 34mm and 35mm the image becomes soft. Other than that regular wear as seen in pics

Cine 18-35 Sigma 1.8 300 degree version of the lens
    PL to M 4/3 Adapter

    $3000 USD plus shipping

What causes the soft image at 34& 35mm?

i did e-mail them and they said they can fix it but there will be cost associated with it. How much depends on what the problem is which is why price is lower

I will upload an example later today for you guys to check out

interesting, i wonder what could actually cause it to go out of focus.
            thank you.

Needs to be tossed on a columnator. Took a hit? back focus is off, needs a shim? Elements are sticking at full zoom?

Either way, $3g is WAY too much for a lens that isn't coming up sharp.

And looking at the very last image, it appears the lens may have taken a hit right on the front near where it says 18-35.

Especially when a new one from GL is $3500. I want whatever this guy is smoking.

I didn't realize the new one is $3500. I purchased it a year ago for $4200.

as for the part where it says 18-35. during a shoot one of the wooden camera handles hit the edge of it by a crew member. The problem was there before it.

If u paid $4200 quite likely you have the 300 degree version of the lens. This is a big selling point that you should probably mention in your first post. The one for $3500 is the version where they do not extend the focus throw. ie. Stock focus throw from sigma.

i think youd get an offer or even many offers if you did get it fixed, im not sure anyone would buy a lens that is damaged unless its a total steal.

I made the mistake of buying a Zeiss Super Speed 12mm Mk3 lens listed as in mint condition, with not issues, clean front and rear elements. It was a very clean looking lens with no signs of heavy use. When I finally got a chance to send the lens on for a CLA (which after I got it, I realized it needed after it sat in my lens case for awhile. When I got the report from Dulcos, I was in shock, the lens has scratched front and rear elements (I could not see this looking at it, but I was not really looking either, but nothing obvious), and the focusing helix needed recoatimg to correct wear on it. All total my $1500 "bargain" is going to cost $3k to bring it up to the condition the seller listed it in. I have contacted the "Seller" but so far he is taking "no responsibility, or even offering to help cover any part of the repairs. The rear lens element was the most scratched, and it alone costs $1050 to replace (parts and labor).

Lesson learned, have all used lenses sent to a lens tech service like Duclos for evaluation as part of the negotiations to buying.
Either the seller can send it to Duclos or whoever you choose, buyer pays for 1-hr fee for evaluation, if no repairs are made). Once report is available, buyer and seller can decide in price or if to follow through on the sale.

The only exception to this would be if the seller has just had the lens serviced and has the report and work completed available, so you know you are Not buying someone else's problems. Anytime someone says it great, except,for... should be a "Red" flag. My experience showed, you can not always tell the condition of a lens by just looking at it!
                              Cheers
