  • BMCC EF on Steadicam Merlin with Vest

Hello, I've done some searching and have not found anyone who has tried a BMCC on a Steadicam Merlin with arm and vest. Has anyone or does anyone know anyone that has tried this? The Merlin/vest are rated to 5 lbs. and that is pushing a payload from a BMCC, lens, possible matte box. any information would be great. Thanks.

Do you own the Merlin already? If so you should upgrade to the metal gimbal. The Merlin 2 with Arm and vest is specced out at 7.5Lbs.

    Camera Weight Capacity *: 0.5 to 5.0lb (0.23 – 2.27kg)
7.5lbs max. (3.4kg) with OPTIONAL Merlin Arm & Vest

I've balanced a BMCC on a Merlin with a Canon 14mm lens only, no accessories. It worked pretty well.
My mad scientist buddy has built a brushless gimbal, and that accommodates the BMCC fine and works nicely. But I still prefer traditional Steadicam stabilizers....so far at least.
