  • High Speed or Red Epic

I was debating of getting a red epic (probably dragon) or a phantom miro 320 or something within that price range later this year.

If guys had the option which one would you guys pick?
I know I could use twixtor to slow the epic down but I've seen that you can't capture the nuances/details like that?

Oof. I hope you live in Los Angeles because if you get a Miro320S I'll likely be over at your place... INDEFINITELY.

Depends on the frame rates you want.

The EPIC is good to 120fps but once you go past that the res drops away Rapidly. Although I've done it, I don't think 300 FPS looks very good at all on the EPIC.

EPIC is probably to better 24 FPS camera though if you need it to do both.

Isn't the Phantom up there in pricing compared to an EPIC?

Both IMHO are not of the same type of cameras.

I don't think you can shoot 4K and up res with the Miro can you?

I thought that's limited to HD only?

yep the miro should be more expensive--no but right now i was thinking of pairing a few BMC + miro
what is the difference between shooting in high speed vs software manipulation? There should be noticable differences?

Any decent digital video camera + Miro is a great combo

              But damn the price :P

The closest one to me is in Minny for rental.

I use Twixtor on Avid, After Effects Time remap and FCPX Optical Flow for speed manip and they dont compare to actual frames.

With my Scarlet, Im spoiled with the ramping and speed options

you get that Miro and Im coming down for a visit too
