  • New Lens Gear to Destroy all Other Lens Gears

I helped a company lately create a kickstarter video for a new filmmaking product and I thought some people here might find it interesting. I'm not trying to spam and hopefully it doesn't come off that way. But overall I was actually really impressed with this product and just thought I'd share it!

It's a mechanical, seamless lens gear that's universal in size and goes on and off a lens super fast. Pretty cool product all in all and is much more innovative than other lens gears I've used. If you're interested, check it out! Shot on Black Magic cameras as well.

I don't use things like this, but it looks really good if it works well!

Pretty cool idea, but for less than $300, you could have a set of seamless gears for a full set of lenses. And I'd rather leave gears on my lenses than taking them on and off.

Looks very futuristic and handy to have around, but Aaron is right, a single FF gear that is made specifically for your lens will cost you 30 bucks. The kickstarter video ist kind of misleading about the fact that FF gears have to be cluncky and cheap and shit.

Looks like a neat product, but I fail to see the target. A single removable gear I would think is for the more casual shooter, but casual shooter wouldn't pay $450 for one.

It's a niche product for sure for a certain person. If you're the type that attaches permanent lens gears then I'd agree it's not for you. Personally for me I don't like to attach permanent lens gears to my lenses so when I'm shooting photos I can use the focus and zoom rings unobstructed. Or also, I borrow lenses a lot, so I obviously need to use a temp lens gear. Right now I use some red rock lens gears and I'm constantly switching them between lenses. With the red rock gears I find I often to have to take the lens off the camera to get the ring on because it won't fit over my large diameter filters on the front, so this is just a faster option for getting them on and off.

Looks very cool and efficient. That said....$350 for a lens gear...uhm...I doubt people will be buying this.

I agree $150 seems like a sweet spot, especially for those on the fence.

Same sentiments here--I'd absolutely love to have this but hoo boy, that price point. I could maybe reason $200, even $250 (if I were convinced of its durability/reliability), but not $350.
