    Hi guys.
    I understand that the SB with SOME lenses add moire, soft corners and inconsistency in sharpness throughout different focal lengths (if a zoom-lens is used), and with others it doesn't.

    SO:
    What are your experience with lenses on the SB?
    - Which turns into shit, and which don't?

    Also: How do you cope with the problems the SB gives you and your lenses?

    None of my Zeiss Contax lenses is turning into shit with the SB on the BMPCC. I can't speak for Nikon, I don't have any.
    But any moiré is not the fault of a good lens being too sharp, but of the camera having no filter!

      I've never had any Nikon lens turn to shit on the MB...they get better not worse.

        Hu, okay.
        It's just my impression that some are very critical towards the SB's effect on their lenses.
        But i don't really know.

          It was the very sharp lenses like the Sigma 18-35 zoom that had issues, not the older Nikon lenses. My Zeiss ZFs I had all worked great, 18mm through 50mm, including the 28mm f/2.0, a frat lens with and without the SB.

            I've got a pretty extensive set of Contax Zeiss (nine primes and two zooms), four Leica-R and three Canon EF-L lenses. None of them have issues on the BMPCC speedbooster.

            The only lens I've ever had an issue with (on a focal reducer) is the Contax Zeiss 18/4 when using it with a Zhongyi Lens Turbo II - the rear element of the 18mm protrudes so much it touches the Zhongyi element.

              Same result here.

              I have 9 Nikkors. 6 primes, and 3 zooms. All excellent with the Speedbooster. All the lenses except 3 are the fully manual Ai-S versions, but the newer Nikkor AF lenses work absolutely just as well.
              Cameras: Blackmagic Cinema Camera, Blackmagic Pocket Camera (x2), Panasonic GH2 (x2), Sony RX100 ii, Canon 6D, Canon T2i,
              Mics: Sennheiser, AKG, Shure, Sanken, Audio-Technica, Audix

                Happy to hear that! Just got my speedbooster yesterday. Such nice contrasts with the nikkor lenses i've got.
                Damn!

                My widest lens is 17mm on the bmpcc SB. Im planning to go superwide some time. What should i go with on the SB?
                Considered Tokina 11-16, Nikkor DX 12-24. Or some of Samyang/Rokinons cine lenses.
                I would prefer a focal length around 14 as absolute minimum. Better at 12mm.

                What would you guys suggest?

                  Try this, shoot a flat wall with some contrasting patterns. Turn on focus peaking on the Blackmagic. Turn the focus ring and see if the peaking glides across unevenly. If it's even, you have a good one.

                    I use the Tokina 11-16mm and have two copies; GL Optics PL mount, and the Cine EF model.

                    The Cine EF is great on the speedbooster and becomes a 6.4-9.2mm f/2 zoom- really wide and sharp across the image. But 17mm is still pretty wide though - becomes a 9.8mm.

                      Here is a sample via the BMPCC Speedbooster from a S16 digital cinema camera, the SI2K which has a slightly smaller sensor than the BMPCC. The only lens which appeared less pleasing was the 35mm f1.4. I did not have the lenses NDed down into their sweet f4-f8 spot so I would expect the 35mm would look better out of its diffraction zone where I had been forced to set it on the day.
