  • Anamorphot 1.33 + Rangefinder + Widest taking lens for BMPCC?

    Hello,

I want to use the SLR Magic Anamorphot 1.33 + SLR Magic Rangefinder on the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema camera.

What would be the widest taking lens I can use without vignetting?

I have used the SLR Magic 17mm T1.6 but it vignettes when I use the SLR Rangefinder with the SLR Magic Anamorphot 1.33.

So whats the widest native MFT lens can use with Anamorphot 1.33 + Rangefinder?

    Thank you!
    John

That conversation occurred quite a while ago, so I'm not sure of the answer exactly. In part it may depend upon the taking lens itself. I believe the entrance pupil of the lens must be no larger than 50mm. My memory may bot be reliable but I think lenses with 35mm would generally work, and 24mm lenses may or may not. The SLR Magic site for the UK may have better information.

The filter ring size is 52mm on the 25 and 35mm Hyperprime Lenses, somthe drift element should be around 46-49mm.

Thanks! I'll give the SLR Magic 25mm a try.

The latest SLR Magic 25mm is a 52mm front thread the last version was 49mm. Maybe the Cine III is different from the Cine II but the Cine II had an inclusive lens hood kind of like a foreskin. You could only use a few step rings with the lens because the hood would contact the ring before reaching full focus travel. Something to be aware of, maybe it's changed on the latest version.

          Good Luck

Howie, this specifically mentions using the Cine III with the Anamorphot Adapter:

Howie, good info,on the older versions of the 25mm Hyperprime. But the Vwer III should not be an issue, as Rick points out.
I believe, the Cine III version was made specifically to work with the Anamorphot adapter.
              Cheers.

SLR Magic did respond to my question.
25mm T0.95 @2.8 will not vignette when used with the Rangefinder and Anamorphot 1.33x-50 on the Pocket
Hopefully I'll get it soon to do a test.

I used mk1 s16 superspeeds with with modified 77mm fronts. 9.5 vignette a little, didn't have the 12, 16 was fine and Aaton though so 1.66 original aspect ration. I used them mostly at F1.3 to F2 for style reasons. I would recommend F4 minimum. https://youtu.be/sxM_RpRoRBc?t=35s
