  • Samyang to announce 10mm f/2.8 prime for APS-C

    Article: http://www.dpreview.com/news/2012/09...ang-10mm-f2-8-

"With its 15mm-equivalent, 110 degree angle of view, it will be the widest-angle rectilinear prime lens for APS-C/DX format SLRs. As usual for Samyang, focusing will be manual only. The lens is expected to go on sale towards the end of 2012."

16mm equivalent for Canon APS-C. And a reasonably fast aperture 23mm equivalent on the BMCC sensor! Wonder if they'll make a ciné version next year? Will be interesting to hear from the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 enthusiasts.

I'm beginning to understand why some of you have so many lenses; gets to be addictive!

This is good news... I love their 8mm fisheye, and a rectilinear lens this wide will come in very handy with the BMC.

This is FANTASTIC! I knew they'd come to the rescue! Would definitely be great if they made a Cine version. My main reason for wanting it over the Tokina, besides it being a bit wider, would be that the Samyang's are designed for video manual focusing. I believe the Tokina is still designed for still photography focusing, which can be more difficult for pulling focus.

They're on fire lately. The 35mm T1.5 is a gem.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a company as responsive to Customer requests as Samyang/Rokinon. This is great news.

Hoping pricing is in line with the rest of their line-up, and have a cinema version from day one. Great for those that want a full manual set for the EF version.

As for availability end of 2012 is pretty far away. Or not, if we haven't gotten the damn camera by then...
