has anyone had success with the Sandisk Extreme II 240GB?

the manufacturer code on the Sandisk above refers to the Extreme [I]. are there compatibility issues with Extreme II?

Supposedly Blackmagic tested the Extreme IIs and they are too thin to seat properly. They can move around while shooting, even with the thickening shim they come with.

I have a similar issue with Kingston V200+ 240GB - the drives are really thin and I need to tape on the 7 to 9.5mm plastic adapter - which brings them up to Extreme 1 thickness.

Has anyone who's used the Kingston V200+ 240 GB been able to buy these plastic adapters separate? I've searched online and emailed Kingston, but no go - they seem to sell them with the drives in some packages and not in others. I bought 2 off of ebay , brand new, and one had the plastic adapter and the other didnt. Now the bare KIngston is really loose inside my BMCC.

Maybe that's the problem with the Extreme II?

If this is true why haven't blackmagic mentioned this and put it on their list of drives not recommended?

Wow. I use two Kingston VC200+ 240GBs and they fit perfectly without adapters. I wonder if there have been revisions?

...Interesting, mine rattle around so I just slide the adapter in along with the SSD to avoid this

not sure which version you are using, mine are very thin and need to use the adapter to prevent from flapping around. i do lots of handheld work, so i am really carefull my SSDs fit tight and not flap around. Just got an email from Kingston, they are shipping me a free adapter. I bought one SSD without one.

Found this thread in the Workflow section regarding the Sandisk Extreme II and BMD's response http://bmcuser.com/showthread.php?50...sponse-from-BM

It's too thin even with an adapter.

According to the FAQ site linked to earlier some of the drives listed in the original post are discontinued. And wasn't the OCZ Vertex 3 drives officially dropped a while ago?

The following SSDs are either discontinued or only supported as part of a legacy configuration and may no longer be available with the required firmware:
                          Crucial 256GB C300 (CTFDDAC256MAG-1G1) - (discontinued)
                          Kingston 64GB SSDNow V+100 (SVP100S2/64G) - (discontinued)
                          Kingston 128GB SSDNow V+100 (SVP100S2/128G) - (discontinued)
                          Kingston 512GB SSDNow V+100 (SVP100S2/512G) - (discontinued)
                          Kingston 120GB SSDNow V+200 (SVP200S3/120G) - (discontinued)
                          Kingston 240GB SSDNow V+200 (SVP200S3/240G) - (discontinued)
                          Kingston HyperX 240GB (SH100S3/240G) - (discontinued)
                          OCZ 240GB Vertex 3 (VTX3-25SAT3-240G) - (discontinued)
                          OCZ 480GB Vertex 3 (VTX3-25SAT3-480G) - (discontinued)
                          OCZ 240GB Deneva 2 (firmware 2.22) (D2CSTK251M21-0240) - (discontinued)

I have the Kingston HyperX 240GB (SH100S3/240G) I bought just a few weeks back. Certainly not discontinued and work just fine, raw 30fps.

                              Pocket = SD (Secure Digital)
BMCC = SSD (Solid State Drive)

This is a thread about SSDs for BMCC.
