I will, if Blackmagic ever has that kind of marketshare and dominance. They aren't in the same position those other companies are, they aren't dominating their perspective market, unlike the two you mentioned. I'm also not the only person addressing these issues and dissapointed in this. I guess we'll find out who's right come firmware time huh? Peace.

    • I've owned 3 BM cameras (BMCC, Micro Pocket, Pocket 4k). And I appreciate the features the new cameras give... they're kind of unbeatable for the price. I'll never complain about silly things like autofocus or ibis as these are about pure imaging power.

I just can't help feel that the colour and feel isn't there with these new pocket cameras. I've had a play with the 6k files and it has the same look at the Pocket 4k, just more pixels. I find it hard to reliably pull out nice skintones.

Reliability though - I've had early shipments on all 3 cameras and they've all worked faultlessly. Maybe I've just been lucky in that regard.

You guys bitch and complain about not getting a native ef mount camera so you can ditch adapters. You get a 6k camera and now your requesting it to be like the old one? Unreal.

Canon launched two 4k 30fps 8-bit bodies yesterday: 90D and M6-II. Sony is about to launch two new 4k 30fps 8-bit bodies today: a6100 and a6600. You can start laughing at them now, or wait for the official press release.

You know it's possible they aren't the same people...

              • I can afford the Pocket 6k but at the moment somethng tells me this camera is not a mature design. Its still using a gen 1 USB-C which means SSD will bottleneck at 50fps or 60fps 1:3 BRaw. Its not LF or even close to true S35. The DR could be better than 13 stops even though its better than the Pocket 4k in the highlight. No locking EF mount is a real bummer and having used the Metabone SB Cine version I have difficulty going back to plain EF.
I will wait when MkII or 8k comes out.

                • While canon want to charge you nearly the cost of a 6k camera just to have a locking mount option on a C500 MK2 ?

                  • That is why Metabones Cine version is so great.
If technology stood still in 3yrs times the C500 Mk2 would come down in price to be just affordable, but I doubt even BMD would stand still.

                    • I would say the Pocket 6K is very close to S35 (24x14) at 23x13mm, so only 1mm short. This is closer than the original Ursa/Mini 4K Camera. Oversized S35 sensors, like the Ursa Mini 4.6 or Pana EVA1 5.6 are larger than S35 in their full gate settings. Yes, it is nice to have a sensor on the large size, than smaller, but saying a camera is, “not even close to true S35” when it is on,y 1mm short, is a bit of a stretch my friend. In the digital world, there is no real “True S35” definition size, they are all over the p,ace, some smaller than the S35mm film gate, some larger. Even S35mm film gates were different, 3-perf, 4-perf, etc. I think it is safe to say, S35 is larger than Academy film 35mm (21.2x11.9) and smaller than LF (24x36 aprox).
                      Cheers

                      • Then the original Ursa Mini is not true S35 then. Its a stretch to say the least even crop 1.7 are being called S35. Not buying that. Crop 1.55 is no S35 in my book.

                        • No, it was between STD 35mm gate and S35 gate sizes. I think perhaps they call them S35, to alert the user they need at least S35mm lenses to cover the sensor, where an Academy STD. 35mm lens (Zeiss Standard Speeds for example) might not cover these larger than STD 35, but not quite S35mm sensors.

Some so called Full Frame Cameras are not quite 24x36 either, for example, the Nikon Z6 is 23.9X35.9 at max gate size. Digital sensors approximate their Film gate size counterparts, but my not be exactly the same.
                          Cheers
