Yeah only problem is that this will mess up your warranty while doing so. So better just use an external monitor.

What about after warranty has expired ? Nothing lost then - right? As far as I understand the BM thing is the cams are cheap but not uber reliable and if they break in warranty they get replaced. If they break out of warranty then you throw them away. So after warranty has expired would seem the time to do this.

I don't read Chinese, is it a mod kit you can buy, or just some guys custom mod idea. I do like the graphite trim held on with gaffer tape. Stuff like this is annoying, considering a hinge like that could have been incorporated in the design for not too much more money. For the price of a Feelworld Ma5 I wouldn't even attempt it, in warranty or not. Bug Blackmagic for a mark II.

You can translate it with Google. At the end they state the following:

"The entire modification does not damage the original parts and can be restored to the factory state without damage.
It is expected that the formal production of small batches will be completed by the end of May and early June. "

That is really crazy project! But for me this open cable looks very easy to damage.

I was thinking the same thing re ribbon cable. Not worth the risk. A 5" external will not add that much size or weight. And there are decent cheap ones. I'd love it if the camera was built this way, then there wouldn't be much need to rig it out, but it is what it is.

Nah, nothing could possibly go wrong. You worry too much.

Hey, and when you turn it to a horizontal position, you could put your coffee cup on it. Perfect!

Most/all still cameras with tilt screens I've had or seen all have exposed cables like that. And being stills cameras they get beat up way more than the average cinema camera. Never had or heard about any issues with the cables.
