  • BM firmware 6.1 The Good and The Bad

With the old firmware I can't detect samsung T5 500gig ssd when it's pluged then turn on. - Now it does, no more unplugging, that's good.

With Old firmware, I cant review prores recording but recording was fine in NLE - Now, It WON'T record ProRes at all. It will stop at 1 frame and hang up the camera, with an "!" on record red dot.
I would need to turn off and on the camera. - this is bad.

Battery Life improves. LP-E6 type Powerextra brand 2600 mAh
Old FW: 43 min / New 6.1 FW: 60 min or 1 hour. Straight recording. -that's good.

edit to add NP-F battery test:

      When using NP-F770 5000 mAh it's a 51 minute improvement! From 1'45" to 2'36" ! Not bad.
I like using the mid sized 770/750s compared to the heavier 970s.

Yes. That's good Question actually since plugging it to a USB 3.0 slot on my PC will not detect the camera. I almost gave up, then thought of pluging it into a USB 2.0.
I learned in the improvements list that its one of the issues being addressed with this firmware.
I did use a USB 3.0 cable but plugged into a USB 2.0 port on the PC.

The new revised DR charts in the manual now make more sense to me.

Appreciate the info, I'm trying to do the update now USB C to USB C, and it worked! Can't wait to play around with this, I'm wondering if external battery solutions will also have improved battery life? Test time....

"Calibration" has been replaced with "Pixel remapping"

                  There´s a nice new 3-second safety-line when you´re formatting the card internally.
The Autofocus on my Olympus 17mm feels more natural as well.

                  Now I´m waiting for BRAW!

Do we know if the camera is just using the 2600mah more effectively or do the original canon LP-E6 1800mah also last longer even though they generally worked well?

Is anybody else missing the aperture control on the viltrox focal reducer after the Update?

Maybe somebody can try this with the Viltrox EF M2 as well.
I´m getting an aperture value on the display for a few seconds after starting the camera, but can´t change it. Then the value disappears completely, as if I´m using a manual lens.

Edit: Just read onthe BMD-Forum that this seems to be a general Problem with this new firmware. Viltrox Firmware 2.3 still supports aperture-control.
