Seriously. When they are giving them away for free as a bundle.....they've got to just be clearing stock. Stinks because I still really wanted a Big URSA at some point.

Not quite free, but an URSA 4K for $495! A steal for anyone needing another camera and then you add the 4.6K turret upgrade. Remember when the Pocket camera was $500 and we thought it was the end of the world. If you want the URSA Mini Pro, this is another stunning deal!

Not going to happen. B&H is having that promotion too. I think it's a worldwide promotion from BM.

Not sure if I made my point clearly about the BMPCC. We thought the fire sale meant the BMPCC was dead and we were wrong as it continued to sell at $995 after that. You all may be right, but maybe they're just letting dealers clear stock on hand if they have URSA 4K PL cameras in stock. Remember the Pocket was only a steal for a week or so. These may go even faster. Disappointing that the URSA PL may not have sold as well as BMD and dealers expected, but I see this as inventory clearance time again, not the death knell.

I think that they were overstocked as well. They are selling good quality cameras at lower prices so people coming from DSLR's are buying their cameras. DSLR shooter's have EF lenses so PL won't sell as much.

This is probably to clear the stock of the v1 sensor. Notice the Big Ursa offered is ONLY the PL mount one. So they're probably trying to clear the stock of the v1 PL mount Ursa. The v2 is not part of this offer. That's full price.

I hope you guys are right and they are just clearing V1 stock. Rick, you make a good point, as I too was one of the lucky folks who got the Pocket camera for only $500. :-)

Interesting, by gutting the resale value of the Ursa it forces your hand in the upgrade process. It's a cold blooded power move, I like it.

Is there similar offer like this in the UK?

I just ordered the bundle, it's too good to pass on it.
I was going to buy the pro anyway. $500 more to get an URSA PL v1 is a no brainer.

curious, if I was to pick up this bundle, could i hypothetically send the URSA 4k to BMD for a (paid) upgrade from v1 to v2?

Zak, you could ask BMD, but I don’t believe that option has been offered in the past. Honestly, when the 4.6K turrets are released, most people will upgrade their $495 URSA 4K v1 to the latest and greatest.

I wouldn't count on a 4.6 turret as a reason to get one, but it has its own advantages like global shutter. I'm sure it's to clear old stock ov v1 pl mounts, but if they sell out, and everyone demands the turret upgrade, then maybe there will be enough to justify the release. Remember the press conference where Grant said the numbers needed fo the upgrade wasn't high enough, they are about profit after all.

Could also be a bit of a bait and switch, well not really switch but maybe hold back. They are no doubt sold out of the first run of mini pro, and likely will not keep up with demand for months as usual. This deal clears old stock and gives buyers something to shoot on while happily waiting for what they really want.

The guy that coverts Russian still glass to PL could have a booming business for a while as people look for a cheap way to shoot with it.

Rick, Grant cited having issues creating a 4.6K turret as the reason for the upgrade offer. You're clearly an optimist to read that as 4.6K turret is still coming but delayed. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I think it's dead. I don't see BMD pursuing any more turrets for the URSA.

                              But who knows...
