  • BMPCC + kinotehnik LCDVF + Krasnogorsk 3 pistol + shoulder mount, anyone?

    Hello,

So finally I got my BMPCC + sigma 18-35 EF mount + MB SB and I'm ready to play.
Now this video has persuaded me to purchase the meteor lens.
The filmmaker writes he's using the Krasnogorsk 3 pistol + shoulder mount,
so I'm considering getting the whole Krasnogorsk 3 camera set on ebay.

Has anyone tried the BMPCC with K3 pistol /shoulder + Kinotehnik LCDVF?
Does it feel comfortable or the short length of the viewfinder forces the arm to be too contracted and stuck to body?

    Thanks.

Yes I use the Krasnogorsk 3 pistol + shoulder mount, but not the Kinotehnik LCDVF (I use another make).
Its comfortable & stable, also you can change the length of the shoulder mount - so your arm can be tight up against your body for better stabilisation or you can have it so you've got some wiggle room. I've used it to shoot a wide shot for a concert, standing up for 5/6mins with very minimal movement. The only extra thing you'll need is some padding or tennis handle grip for the bit that sits into your shoulder - extra comfort/grip.

The Meteor lens will vignette, so you don't get the full range (probably half the range of the zoom) & if you want the same look you would be better off buying something like the Mir 24M/N 35mm f2 (M42 or Nikon Mount) or another of the vintage Russain lenses - with the speedbooster you'll get the extra stop of light etc.
