  • BMCC firmware 1.1 released

    BMCC firmware v.1.1 released:

    Below is the Read Me for the Mac version of the software. I assume there's a Windows Read Me that is similar (I didn't check).

    The Read Me is brief. I don't have a camera yet, so I don't know if more "features" are included in this release other than what's listed below:

    About Blackmagic Cinema Camera Utility

    Welcome to the Blackmagic Cinema Camera Utility for Mac OS X. This utility allows you to update your Blackmagic Cinema Camera to the latest software release for new features, bug fixes and other enhancements.

    Blackmagic Cinema Camera Utility 1.1

    What's New?

    • Avid DNxHD MOV support
    • Support for EF lens with in-lens image stabilizer
    • Increased number of available shutter angles

    Minimum system requirements for Mac OS X

    • Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion or later
    • Mac OS X 10.7 Lion or later
    • A suitable USB 2.0 port
    • Thunderbolt port for UltraScope and Media Express

    Installing Blackmagic Cinema Camera Utility

    The Blackmagic Cinema Camera Installer will install the following components:

    • Blackmagic Cinema Camera Utility
    • Blackmagic Media Express
    • Blackmagic UltraScope
    • Blackmagic Disk Speed Test

    Before installing the software, we recommend that you run "Uninstall Blackmagic Cinema Camera" first.

            Did the update also fix the pink prores issue?

            Could someone with a camera confirm the finer points of the update please, such as what shutter angles are now included etc.

                  My beta version had 45,90,108,144,172.8,180,216,270,324,360 degrees. I think that my Beta is the same version as this release. I tried to install the new 1.1 and it says that my camera is up to date.

                    If someone with a bigger brain than me would translate those shutter angle values to (gasp) shutter speeds, say, for 24p, I'd be eternally grateful. Cheers.

                              Nice to hear about the update. Is it weird that they seemed so secretive about it just a few days ago? I mean, between the hints we were given from mbeck and JB's twitter... it seems that we already knew what was in the firmware update before it was even released...

                              hmmmm


                              Wonder if there are any surprises in there just waiting to be discovered....
