So, like most everyone else, I've been wanting patiently for the Pocket Cams to start shipping out. In the meantime, the other day I paid my customary (read: too often) visit to Texas Media Systems, just to check in and see what was new in the TMS world. I knew they had a demo Pocket Cam in the glass case, so I figured I'd take an ogle at it.
And as I'm looking it over, Terry Nixon says, "hey, do you want to go shoot something with it?"
Now normally, I'd say "sure," and I'd grab the camera and go film my dogs, or a 24-hour Austin taco-shack. But this time, I thought I'd do something different.
"How about I come by on Friday, and pick it up for a weekend shoot?" I said.
"Sounds like a plan," Terry replied.
That's how this all started. On Tuesday morning, I had no idea I would be shooting a short film on Sunday.
I quickly contacted a friend about locations. She ran down a list of possibilities. One of them stuck out.
A cemetery.
Done.
Then I put out a call to a few friends, looking for cast and crew. We quickly put together a small crew (of four) and a cast (of two).
And last night, I actually sat down and figured out what we're going to shoot…
It's a horror "micro-short" that I'll also be using as a promo piece for DVXUser's "HorrorFest II" Film Festival.
I'll be updating this thread as I can with notes, pictures, and video clips as much as I can all weekend. When slow internet connections make updating this thread difficult, I'll post updates to the DVXUser Facebook Page. (Link below) If you have a specific question about the Pocket Cam, post it here and/or on the DVXUser Facebook Page, and I'll answer it as quickly as I can.
I think it'll be a fun weekend, and I hope we all learn a bit about how well the camera works, and what it's strengths and limitations are.
Cheers!
