  • 2x Anamorphic Test on UMP with Diopters

    Using the Helios 44-2 58mm f2 taking lens, @f2/8, a Schneider Super Cinelux 2x Anamorphic Lens, Rapido FVD-16a, and a +4, +2, +1 Close Up filter from Polaroid...along with a Tiffen Black Pro-Mist 1/4.
I shot with the Ursa Mini 4.6k with 4:1 CDNG @ full sensor, 2x Squeeze in post, and then slight zoom-in to achieve a 2.76 Aspect Ratio.

Very nice Adam! Can you explain what each 'piece' does? I am familiar with anamorphics but not with the polaroid close up filter etc...is it a purely aesthetic decision or does it serve a technical 'purpose'. Also, if I am not mistaken the FVD allows you to focus both the taking lens and projection lens at once, right?
Great looking footage man, and thanks for sharing!

The Rapido FVD-16a has a close focus of 3.3ft, so adding Diopters allows me to get REALLY close and still retain sharpness. Once the Diopter is on, though, you can't focus far away anymore, so you need to be selective when you can/want to use them.
