  • Pocket 4k and SLR Magic APO

Ok so I know people have been curious about the SLR Magic APO lenses and its not alot of info/footage about them. I DPed a commercial yesterday and I had a bit of footage left on the cards. Here are a couple shots. I'm not doing post so I dont know how it will end up looking.

Shot of dad timing daughter and last shot has a satin 1 diffusion. All shot with Tokina Cinema Pro IRND and I'm using the metabones PL to M4/3 x.71 adapter. I really like these lenses.

Thanks man. I''ll post the final when its done. If I don't like what they do then maybe I'll ask for a crack at colouring it myself...just for me of course.

So the Metabones PL-MFT speedbooster works fine? Did you have to shim it or anything? I also have the APOs and have a preorder on the BMPCC4K.

Nice work btw I’d like to see the final video!

Final product. I wasn't given a 4k copy unfortunately, just a 1080p mp4. I didn't colour it but it was very close to what I already had.

            Looks nice!

You used the Metabones PL-MFT Speed Booster Ultra x.71?

What sort of rig were you using on this shoot? Easyrig?

Thanks. So with the Metabones Speedbooster 0.71x and, say, the SLR Magic APO 32mm, your focal length is closer to ... 65mm???

Did you mostly use the 32mm?

It makes it a little wider than 32mm on super35 format. So 32mm on my pocket 4k is a little wider FOV than the same 32mm on my Ursa mini pro. About 10% wider. The speedbooster basically makes the sensor FOV a super 35 mm sensor.

I did use the 32mm quite a bit on this. But I did use the other lenses also.

I do really like those lenses a lot, wish I could afford them. Though what I can't find online is how the non-APO Hyperprimes compare to them (is the performance close or completely different glass?) and same with the Microprimes. Seems the Microprimes have some issues, but I don't mind imperfect lens characteristics and the price point is pretty good. Though only the 12mm and 18mm are available in MFT at the moment.
