Sort of a warm day

Hi guys,

I know we're in the cold season but my country must have one of the best climates in the world so last weekend I decided to take my UM4.6k out for another walk and edited some footage. I even did some voice over just for fun, so excuse my english as it's not my native language.

Tried a very different grade. Something close to warm and organic colors. Decreased saturation and contrast. I bought Filmconvert and I'm trying to learn the best way to use it and I've been loving it. I would like to know what you guys think of these stills and how you'd grade them differently. It'd be nice to hear from you guys who are much more experienced than me.

The sharpening is unpleasant to be honest.

Yeah, I didn't add any sharpening. I think it's probably the contrast that's too much. I did a much simpler grade a few days ago.

I think it looks better but it's definitly a contrast thing. Got to learn not to go too far sometimes

it could also be from the highlight recovery. I always tend to pull highlights to -100 which creates artifacts around the edges similar to a sharpening filter that went too far. I actually dislike using sharpening filters but like the effect of the -100 highlight "artifacts". When used on the sky, it almost feels the sky is a painting. But I really have to stop doing that as most people don't like it

Ok, removed those exaggerated manipulations of shadows and highlights and got a much more natural grade. I believe this was causing the weird sharpening effect that you noticed.

A few more grabs. Still learning to grade footage from this camera which can basically go anywhere we want. We can push and push and push... And it just goes... lol

PS: All artifacts and weird stuff is from the JPEG compression... ugly...
