  • 43 degrees centigrade in shade - Ursa Mini 4.6K heat check

Two weeks a ago I had the opportunity to film in Dubai for a few days.
And as it was a research shoot for a documentary with a very nice viennese production company (Prisma Film) and a great director (Manu Luksch),
I can show you some of the images we shot there:

    https://vimeo.com/169159161

As I already mentioned in the title, temperatures were very hot, once we shot in the sun for two hours, when it was 43 degrees (109 Fahrenheit) in the shade and the camera worked flawlessly AND silent (other than me cursing and melting).

But there's one thing I noticed. The day before this hot outdoors scene I shot some images in the evening in an airconditioned car and I had a lot of picture errors like you see here.

    https://vimeo.com/169454654

    password: error

    info: RAW 3:1, 4.6K

I didn't check the cards yet and also not if one of the cfast slots has a propblem and don't know if it was a copy error, but maybe somebody recognizes the peculiarity of these errors and can give me an advice where to start my search first?
What I know is, it only happened within the same power cycle, the images before and after that are without mistakes. In a few further takes (shot in HD, prores 444) of other days I found minimal errors too.

06-15-2016: UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE on the corrupted images!

I've checked my 6 Lexar 3400x 128GB cards on errors, first in slot 1 then in slot 2 of the camera and didn't find any.
I worked with these cards on another project for a couple of days afterwards, and again, no errors.
So I think, the errors occured during the copy process from the cfast cards to a ssd, as there was no verifying procedure active.

Hi, can you please upload a few DNGs that have the corruption? Please include a couple of frames either side of the corrupt ones.

What CFAST card was this with?
    Blackmagic Design
    My BMD LUTs.

**Any post by me prior to Aug 2014 was before i started working for Blackmagic**

BMD should find a human photocopier and press duplicate....you are exactly what they need !

        Good for you and BMD.

FYI there was no pw required for me on your error vid, just in case you/production are concerned about such things.

Shots otherwise looked great. Dubai looks pretty awesome.

            Hi Captain Hook,

            here are the dowload links:

            1.) first raw sequence
            https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...0sequ.%201.zip

            2.) second raw sequence
            https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...0sequ.%202.zip

3.) tiff sequence of a prores444 file (the fifth frame has the error)
            https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...es444%20hd.zip

In general, the picture errors in the prores files are much smaller than in the raw files.
            I used my Lexar 3400x, 128GB cards.

Thanks a lot for your help,
            Christian

Thanks Pinko, fixed it and thanks again for your compliment. Dubai is a crazy city... 50 years ago you could only find desert sand, some fishers, fishes and a bit of oil there...

                        Christian, spectacular!

Couple of typos in the credits: the first one is "schot" should be "shot" and the ND filters should be Formatt-Hitech Firecrest I believe.
