Hello boys,

There are so many rigs it's hard to keep up. looking for an external mount Z-Finder type rig for my BMPCC. I don't want the Z-Finder attached to the Pocket Camera. I rather it be on the side via HDMI cable for my Cam Operator to sit if need be. Any recommendations. THe best of the best please. thanks!

You are are looking for is an EVF rather than a Z-finder. A Z-finder a brand name from Zacuto that is a simple loupe that magnifies the screen of the camera, there are other brands available (thats like calling a vacuum cleaner and Hoover ;-) ).

An EVF is a electronic screen that gets it's image from the cameras HDMI or HDSDI output (or in some cameras via a proprietary connection like the F5.F55 and RED). In the case of the Zacuto Z-FinderEVF it is a Z-finder connected to an EVF.

Here are a few options:
Zacuto Z-FinderEVF - http://www.zacuto.com/zfinderevf
smallHD DP4 EVF - http://www.smallhd.com/products/dp4-evf/index.html - probably has the best focus assist I've used
Alphatron EVF - http://www.alphatron.tv/evf.html - I own one of these
Cineroid EVF - http://www.cineroid.com/
kinotehnik LCDVFe - http://www.kinotehnik.com/products/electronic-viewfinder/overview

That should get you started. :-)
