Hey guys,

I've been offered one of these for a good price and the seller seems to think that with a PL adapter this would work fine on the BMC. Obviously there is no way to test this, and I was under the impression that Super 16 lenses would not work. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

There was a seller on eBay claiming in his listing that the 11.5-138 would be adaptable to the BMC but he was wrong. I even double checked with Mattthew Duclos. Unless you want vignetting, the image circle isn't big enough.

It will not work. The image circle of the the lens is too small for the BMC.

Would it be worth it to just crop it? What would the result be, something a little over 2k I wonder?

If you cropped to 2k in post it would cover. But there is still the question of whether a PL adapter can work on the camera at all. Is the width of the throat enough to handle PL glass?

There was a thread with pics of a rental company in France using PL lenses on it, so I'm assuming there's a way, unless I'm missing something.

Well the Zeiss LWZ.2 comes in an EF mount as well. And all of those lenses that were seen in the "HANDS ON BMC in France" thread were all for 35mm Academic, not super 16mm- like the Angenieux 11.5-138.

Maybe this is what they used for the Optimos:

Basically you can swap from PL to EF mounts in minutes.

A Super 16 lens like this will not work. Even if you can get the mount converted.

Angeniex and Zeiss make adaptors for specific lenses.

http://www.angenieux.com/file/datasheets/cinema/pdf_Catalogue_2011-2012/AngenieuxDSLR.pdf

So it's not a generic mount, but one made specifically for certain optima lenses. Same with the Zeiss. And also, these are made for super 35mm format lenses. Not Super 16mm.
