I'm looking for a decent ball-bearing slider that I can use solo at events. Maybe somewhere between 24 inches and 36-ish. SMAPP recommends the Cinevate but it is really expensive. So far I've looked at the Konova and Gini Rigs ones but I'd like to get some feedback from the community here. Thanks!

I've been using this and like it a lot. It's smooth and you can slide it by pushing the side of the slider, instead of the camera or tripod head, which I think keeps it smooth. It's easy to travel with, too.

This one is actually not doing so well with other users. Here's a thread pointing out it's many faults: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?301353-Slider-XL-now-available-from-Edelkrone

I don't have any experience with other brands but I've been happy with my Konova. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=bl_sr_photo?_encoding=UTF8&field-brandtextbin=KONOVA&node=172282

Vealti, do you think the Konova is strong enough to support a small fluid head and a BMCC with a lens without bowing in the middle? It's so much heavier than a DSLR.

I have the K5 one (about 2.5 feet). If I remember right my camera, fluid head, monitor combo weighs around 10 lbs. I'll try to check this weekend. I've never noticed it bowing in the middle. It seems pretty solid. It does flex and drop on the ends though when tripod mounted and the camera is over an end. If I'm using a tripod I mount one end of the slider to the tripod head and put a small stand under the other for support. I don't know if my tripod head isn't beefy enough or not. I see lots of videos with people using sliders mounted center on a tripod and no other supports, but that doesn't work for me.

That's a shame. That was top of my list.
