I was lucky enough to see the new film SAMSARA yesterday. I have to say personally it was a life changing experience. Not just visually but the story told with no dialogue, just imagery in a context that took me on a rollercoaster of emotion re the world we coexist in. How different and yet the same humanity is.

Looking forward to seeing this too, though I don't know that we have a screen around here to do it justice. Have you seen Baraka?

A truly stunning creative work. I saw it (Samsara) in 35mm in a small local theater; I would love to see one of the 70mm or 4K showings.

There is a sequence near the end that takes place at one of the world's most significant religious locations. I read some of the back story about how they got access (for a very, very limited window of time; just several hours, if that much) to a vantage point from which they could observe and film.

The visuals from that point were astonishing; it was also amazing to be able to follow their thought process, as you could imagine them making their shot choices in real time, with the clock ticking away - along with their choices of under cranking, over cranking, and time lapse.

I guess it won't spoil anything if I share this link...

My jaw was on the floor the entire time.
I would love to see the 70mm version too, but alas, no theater shows it around here.

saw it at the Seattle cinerama a few months back and was stunned.
Anyone know the BTS or how they achieve the lighting they did?
