Damn fine. Just goes to show that story is king. Er wait, just goes show the image makers are masters. Seriously, look at all the techniques they use to make a beautiful, evocative image.

And then by the end, the kid gets all empowered, taps his chest and the music swells. Sold!

Lol. The character's a girl, not a boy.

You mean her chest- That sir, is a girl!

A few friends of mine have seen it. Said it's a well done piece of cinema.

Interesting info on how it was all DIY and the DP isn't (wasn't) actually a DP at all.

Very sick.

I've also heard from matty_g that there hasn't been a single bad review anywhere. I am definitely seeing this in theaters.

Film / video is a visual medium that requires a larger depth of field than photography. It's involves motion, which is plenty enough to allow our brains to construct a 3-dimensional space, using the moderate depth of field blur to aid. Extreme shallow DOF found in 5D footage is just bad. If you really think about it, our eyes are approximately the equivalent of a 3.0 crop on a 50mm lens, just with a really wide spherical field of view, which means our aperture/depth of field equivalents are about f/6-f/22.

Yes, seems an important thing to overlook. Clearly those beautiful visuals took me out of the story. I never had that problem watching Blair Witch...
