Hey guys,

if you wanted to build you own digital camera, only for yourself and not for sale ... how would you do it?
Is it even possible or would you not even bother doing it? :)

Cheers

Unless you're an electronics wiz, you'd be unlikely to start with a sensor test kit and go from there. Best route is to find an industrial box camera that does what you want and build a mini computer to control it. Thats what most of the 'open' projects are doing, as well as the digital bolex prototype. You wont save any money going this route, as many of these box cameras are more money than the BMCC, without all the extra bits to make it work. Probably better just to wait it out.

If you wanted to build your own, I'd start with a sensor block that's already built and build a micro computer to control it. http://www.eoshd.com/content/8336/4k-for-1k
